Zurich Travel Tips

Visiting the most expensive, charming and most Bollywood town in Europe? Visiting Zurich? Then read these ideal travel tips and plan your trip better. These tips will help you plan your budget and learn about some of the most popular tourist attractions in Zurich.

  1. In Zurich, if you want to save money, stay away from Taxis. Taxis are expensive in Zurich. And in a city where public transport is considered as one of the best in the world, there’s anyway no need to spend extra bucks on taxis.
  2. In Zurich, there are thousands of fresh drinking water fountains, just carry a water bottle with you and refuel it.
  3. Souvenir shops and airport kiosks display mouth-watering assortments of Swiss-branded chocolates (this is throughout Switzerland though). Just collect your willpower to walk through it to any cheap supermarket around you, where you can find just as tasty (but a lot cheaper) and fancy chocolates that locals eat.
  4. In Zurich, everything is digital and digital payments are appreciated and safer. So no need to carry cash with you always, just pay with your credit/debit card.
  5. Start early and end early is the mantra that day-to-day life, in Zurich, is influenced with so plan your days accordingly too.
  6. Zurich is not a kind of city you would want to go to if you are looking for nightclubs and a colorful nightlife.
  7. Rent a bicycle for free. Yes, you heard that right. In Zurich, bikes are free for expats. All you need to do to rent a bicycle in Zurich is to leave a deposit of 20 CHF. This is definitely one of my favorite free things to do in Zurich.
  8. From Zurich’s most central mountain you have incredible panoramic views over the city, Lake Zurich, Limmat Valley and on a clear day even the Alps.
  9. If you like to see wildlife, give Langenberg Wildlife park a visit and spot some deer, brown bears, wolves and elks.
  10. Public transport in Zurich, as I mentioned earlier, is not only efficient and makes it easier to get around the city but its a highlight in itself. Trams, for example, is amazing in Zurich and just as artistic and historic as trams in Prague. Sit in a tram to its entire run from one point to the other and you will see how colorful and amazing Zurich town can be.
  11. It is possible to visit the Alps and some of the highest points in the Alps on a day trip from Zurich.
